Eligibility
Criteria for Admission to Ph.D. Programme
(As
per UGC Regulations 2022 – Clause 2)
Candidates
seeking admission to the Ph.D. programme must fulfill any one of the
following eligibility conditions:
1.
Master’s Degree Route
Candidates
must have successfully completed:
- One-year /
Two-semester Master’s degree (after a 4-year undergraduate degree),
OR
- Two-year /
Four-semester Master’s degree programme
with:
- Minimum 55% marks
in aggregate
OR
- Equivalent Grade
‘B’
in the UGC 10-point grading scale
(or equivalent grade where a grading system is followed)
The
qualifying degree must be obtained from:
- An Indian
university recognized by UGC, or
- A foreign
educational institution accredited by a recognized assessment and
accreditation agency in its home country.
2.
Four-Year Bachelor’s Degree with Research
Candidates
who have completed a:
- 4-year / 8-semester
Bachelor’s degree with Research
must
have:
- Minimum CGPA of 7.5
out of 10
to
be eligible for admission to the Ph.D. programme .
3.
M.Phil. Qualification
- Candidates who have
completed M.Phil. coursework with minimum 55% marks or Grade ‘B’
(UGC 10-point scale) are eligible for Ph.D. admission.
- A candidate whose M.Phil.
dissertation has been evaluated and recommended for award of degree
may be admitted provisionally to the Ph.D. programme, even before
the viva-voce or final defense.
4.
Relaxation in Marks / CGPA
The
following relaxations are applicable as per UGC norms:
- 5% relaxation in
marks
(from 55% to 50%) for:
- SC
- ST
- OBC (Non-Creamy
Layer)
- Differently-Abled
Persons
- Economically
Weaker Section (EWS)
- Candidates who
obtained their Master’s degree before 19 September 1991
- CGPA relaxation of
0.5
(i.e., minimum CGPA of 7.0 instead of 7.5) for the above reserved categories.
Note: Eligibility marks are
calculated without including grace marks, if any.

Exemption
from Entrance Examination
- Candidates who have
qualified UGC-NET
are exempted from appearing in the Ph.D. Entrance Test.
- However, UGC-NET
qualified candidates must:
- Submit the Ph.D.
application form
- Appear before the Ph.D.
Selection Committee for the interview/presentation process.

- Compliance with UGC

- The application
form should be duly filled in all respects as per the prescribed
instructions.
- Candidates are
required to submit the completed application form along with self-attested
copies of all required documents in hardcopy to the University Campus
address within the stipulated deadline.
- Applicants must
ensure that all information provided is accurate and complete.
- Incomplete,
incorrect, or late applications will be rejected without any further
correspondence
